The care and well-being of our animals is our top priority. We strongly believe in “birth to beef” traceability - this practice assures that our animals are always provided with proper housing, nutrition, and quality care.
A happy cow is a healthy cow. We keep our cattle happy and healthy by providing them with clean, low stress living conditions. They are always free roaming and allowed much more space per animal than conventional methods. Our barn also provides them with year-round shade, airflow, and fresh water.
Do You Give Your Animals Growth Hormones?
The simple answer is no. We believe in natural and unhurried growth, therefore, we do not use any kind of growth hormones for our animals. Additionally, we provide a stress-free environment with large pens and open pastures. Our feed is tested for protein content and quality to ensure our animals are healthy and happy, thus limiting the need for antibiotics.
What Sustainable Farming Techniques Does SHF Practice?
We produce high quality meat by using farming techniques passed down through generations infused with today's modern farming practices and technology. In this way, we are able to preserve the natural environment and animal welfare. For instance, our carbon footprint is small by sourcing local feed, rotating crops properly, and composting our waste.
How Much Can I Expect For My Freezer Beef Order?
Quarter Steer - A quarter steer will yield approximately 135 lbs. cuts of meat
Half Steer - A half steer will yield approximately 270 lbs. cuts of meat
Can I Purchase Small Quantities of Freezer Beef?
Yes. Individual packages and beef bundles will be offered as they become available.
